ASK and RECEIVE

As a very young tot, my mother and father told me I would say, “I do it myself”, “I can do it all by myself”. So often I have thought I could and should do things on my own. Asking for help is difficult for me.

I learned a lesson in ASKING and RECEIVING! READ ON….

At my house I have an outside wood boiler. This is the source of heat for my home. I burn the wood in the boiler outside and pipes carry the hot water underground to the furnace inside the house and voila heat abounds. Sounds easy right? It is when you have wood that is already cut and ready to feed the boiler.

Last week I had 3 trees cut down. The tree cutters asked if I wanted the wood or if they needed to haul it away. I said I would like to have it because I need it to supply wood for heat. As they cut the trees, they had a machine to carry the huge cut pieces of wood to the area where the wood boiler is located. When I say huge- I mean huge-

Now I do have a 16” chain saw that is battery powered. I can do small jobs with that. BUT I was not prepared for this size pieces and I knew it would take me all winter to get this cut.

I don’t like to ask for help. BUT, I kept sensing that I really needed to ask for help. I know it was God telling me to ask. You know what Jesus said- John 16:24- “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name [Jesus]. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete”.

I texted 2 pastors and asked if they might have anyone in their church that could help me with cutting the wood. Both said they would send out messages and ask- WOW!! They showed up. Monday, 4 people came to help me. Tuesday, December 24- Christmas Eve Day- When they could have been doing other things- 15 came and blessed me and MY JOY IS COMPLETE!!! Within 6 hours ALL of the woodwas CUT, SPLIT, and STACKED and the area cleaned up. More than that- friendships were made, lots of laughter, and working together added to our joy.

GOD IS SO GOOD!! HE HAS NEVER FAILED ME EVER!! If you live without joy I would encourage you to ask- so that you too can receive the JOY of our Heavenly Father. Thank you to ALL who came and helped. You are loved and appreciated!!
